On Thursday, Aug. 22, the varsity girls golf team took home their first win of the season. They pulled away with a team score of 324, with Lincoln East following in second place at 363 points.

Kate Strickland won the tournament with 70 points, her teammates following her with Brynn Sunquist at 81 points, Neely Adler with 85, Sadie Steele with 88, and Tatum Terwilliger with 95.

Tatum Terwilliger is the only freshman on the varsity team, and is excited about the team’s placement in the tournament.

“I’m just happy that the team played well and we competed,” freshman Tatum Terwilliger said.

Thursday’s tournament was the first of her high school career. The freshman has a bright outlook on how they played yesterday, as well as the remainder of the season.

“I think that looking at our score from yesterday, and knowing that we can improve from that, it makes me feel pretty good about the rest of the season,” Terwilliger said.

Despite being the best team in the state the previous year, Terwilliger thinks they can still make adjustments.

“Short game is probably the biggest improvement we can make” Terwilliger said about both herself and the team as a whole. This may be seen put into action in the team’s next meet versus Beatrice on Tuesday, Aug 27.
