Unified Track Places First at East

The Lincoln Southwest unified track team placed first at their meet against Lincoln East and Lincoln Southeast on April 12.

The Lincoln Southwest unified track team placed first at their triangular meet against Lincoln East and Lincoln Southeast on April 12. 

In the long jump, sophomore Michael Bolen and senior Dominic Sander won with a combined score of 310, jumping a total distance of 25’ and 10.” The pair also placed first in the 100 meter dash, with a time of 25.300 seconds. 

“We get along well and run and jump really fast and far,” Bolen said. “We do a lot of events together and hang out in P.E. together.”

In the 4×100 relay, sophomores Michael Bolen and Mya Copeland, junior Lizzie Lesoing and senior Dominic Sander placed first in their relay with a time of 1:03:14. 

“It was hot and windy but we still did it,” Lesoing said. “We had a few struggles with handoffs during practice and I think that practicing it and being super encouraging really helped. It’s important to cheer on your teammates and to let them know that even though things may not have gone their way, it’s ok and we are a team and we do this together.” 

The next meet for the Silver Hawks will be hosted at Southwest on Friday, April 22 at 4:00 p.m. Admission is free.
