The Lincoln Southwest boys varsity basketball team is taking a two hour drive west on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2020 to take on the Kearney Bearcats at Kearney High School, with tip off at 5:15.

The Bearcats are coming off a big, upset win over the number five ranked team in the state, Lincoln Pius X, on Friday, Jan. 24. The 73-67 win for the Bearcats featured 20 points from senior center/forward, Seth Stroh.

In this win, Kearney heated up in the first quarter and gained an early lead of 24-9. This is something that LSW struggled with in the Silver Hawks past game against Lincoln Northeast when Southwest got down 24-16 against LNE in the first quarter.

“Kearney is going to be a tough test,” said Silver Hawks head coach, Alex Bahe, after the loss to Lincoln Northeast. “We are going to have to play better than tonight [against Northeast if LSW is wanting to win].”

This will also be a repeat matchup, with the two teams first meeting coming in the HAC tournament on December 31, 2019 where the Hawks fell in double overtime 66-68.

In this game, the Silver Hawks were led by sophomore guard, Jared Bohrer, with 18 points, and senior forward, Brayton Christensen, with 20 points. On the other side, LSW was able to keep senior Seth Stroh quite, holding him to 9 points, but allowed junior, Jack Johnson, to lead the Bearcats with 26 points.
