Friday, Sept. 22 at 3:00 p.m., is the final opportunity for students to register for the American College Testing (ACT) being held on Saturday, Oct. 28 at Lincoln Southwest. After Friday, students will have to wait for the next registration date to take the ACT. Students have a chance to retake the ACT to improve their scores.
“If you’re participating in a sport, you practice because you want to get better. It’s the same thing with the ACTs, if you can take it multiple times and you can practice, you can improve over time,” guidance counselor Mrs. Amanda Tomes said. “If you’re nervous about retaking the ACTs, doing some prep ahead of time (is helpful), whether that’s checking out an ACT test prep book or taking a class.”
To register for the upcoming ACTs, students must create an account on ACT.org and fill in the sign-up information. For more details about starting an ACT account or available resources, students can visit the counseling center for more information.
“If your score is low enough or if you’re not satisfied with it, I say retake it (the ACT) because getting good credit for college goes a long way,” senior Karston Dames said. “My advice to people preparing for the ACTs is to study hard, get good sleep, and find good methods from people you trust.”
If students miss the upcoming registration date, there will be more opportunities to retake the ACT and they should contact their guidance counselors to know when the next sign-up date is.
