Boys Varsity Basketball Defeats the Tigers and Navigators Before Falling to the Eagles

The Lincoln Southwest boys varsity basketball team started off the week with a dominating 87-54 win over the Fremont Tigers on Tuesday Jan. 25. The Hawks followed up with a home game at Lincoln Southwest on Friday Jan. 28 against Lincoln North Star. The Hawks finished with a 63-58 win on Friday Jan. 28 to start the weekend. However, the streak ended after falling to the Omaha Central Eagles at home 57-51 on Saturday Jan. 29.

 

“We need to work on our defense mostly,” freshman Chuck Love said. “Rebounding will also need improvement for this weekend.” 

 

Love finished with 21 points and 5 rebounds from the 2 wins over the week.

 

“We need to work on our defense, specifically rebounding,” junior Lukas Helms said. “We need better discipline as a team”

 

Helms ended with 16 points and 3 rebounds through the 2 wins.

 

The Hawks were out rebounded 30-20 against Omaha Central.

 

The Hawks take on the Columbus Discoverers on Friday Feb. 4 at 7:30 p.m. at home.
