On Oct. 16, All-State choir, orchestra, and band lists were decided. Twenty-one students were selected for choir, four for orchestra, and three for band.
“This is my first year in an All-State ensemble and I didn’t think I would get in but I am very happy that I did,” sophomore Avery Runestad said. “I’ve been doing choir since fourth grade but I have been singing ever since I was a little kid.”
All-State is a chance for students who want to expand their musical experience.
“It is such a pleasure to work with all the students in E-wing. My goal as an educator is to help students become autonomous musicians,” Dr. Marci DeAmbrose said. “The best part of my job is to watch my students discover their potential and begin to take on new challenges such as auditioning for honor choirs like All-State. Year after year, I am grateful that I am able to witness this growth and passion in my students.”
The students participating in All-State will rehearse with their respective ensembles on Thursday, Nov 16, Friday the 17 and Saturday the 18. All-State Jazz Band and Chorus will perform at the Lied Center Nov. 18 at 4:30 p.m. The Orchestra and Band will perform at 7:30 p.m.
