Swing Night is Friday, May 3, from 7 p.m.-10 p.m in the Lincoln Southwest commons. Anyone up at 6:15 p.m. for dance lessons before Lincoln Southwest Jazz Bands perform. The admission fee is $10.
“LSW has more jazz bands than any other school in the state, so we want their final performance to be special,” band director Alyssa Wilhelm said. “Instead of having a formal concert in the auditorium, we get to perform at a fun and lively dance.”
There will be pizza, popcorn, candy, cookies, Shirley Temples and Roy Rogers for $1 at the concession stand.
“I love the dresses, the dancing and the overall cool atmosphere at Swing Night,” junior Alexandria Lionberger said. “I think more people should come, not just to have fun, but to definitely support our band.”
Students can attend to support both freshmen jazz classes, prep jazz, jazz one and jazz two.
“To be honest, Swing Night is one of the best events hosted at LSW, and that’s including prom,” junior Chloe Hogan said. “My friends and I have the best time dancing there and listening to the amazing music the jazz bands play.”
Students can show up in popular jazz attire or any clothes of their choice.
