The Southwest varsity football team is traveling to Grand Island to take on Grand Island at 7:00 at Grand Island High School on Friday, Nov. 1 2019, in the first round of the NSAA Class A State Playoffs.

“We have to focus on doing all the little things right tonight,” senior Drake Sherman said. “Our goal tonight is to focus on tonight and accomplish what we want tonight then focus on the next game.”

The number 11 seeded Hawks are going against the number six seed Islanders just two weeks after playing Grand Island at Seacrest Field on Friday, Oct. 18. In this match up the Hawks were defeated 34-13.

There is a possibility that Friday could be the last time that the Southwest seniors will represent the Silverhawks on the football field. The seniors have led LSW to a 5-4 record so far this year.

“This could be our last game so I’m going to give it my all,” senior Dane Gebers said. “I think if we execute all the little things and don’t make any big mistakes we have a shot for this not to be our last game.”

Southwest students will have to travel to the game on their own if they want to watch the Silverhawks play. The theme for the game is Christmas and Southwest fans will be on the away side.
