Southwest Track and Field Wins at Millard North

The Southwest boys and girls took first place in only their second Varsity track and field meet of the year on Saturday, March 23 at Millard North. The boys finished with a score of 134 beating Millard North by 58 points.

“The whole team represented Southwest today,” junior Max McConnell said. “The weather was a little misty but we pulled through and still won.”

The boys team took first place in eight events including the 4×100, 4×1600, sprint medley relay, 1600m, 4×55 shuttle hurdles, 4×160 shuttle hurdles, high jump and triple jump.

 “The boys really showed up,¨ senior Andrew Nickeson told me ¨however it could’ve went differently if Fremont was there.”

The girls took first place in the meet with a score of 163 beating Omaha Burke by 67 points. The girls won in 11 different events including the 4×400, 4×800, sprint medley relay 1600m, distance medley relay, 4×55 shuttle hurdles, 4×160 shuttle hurdles, shot put, discus, high jump, pole vault and long jump.

The next meet coming up is the LPS Open on Thursday, March 28 at Lincoln High at 12:00p.m.
