On Thursday, Oct. 27, Student Council hosted Trunk-or-Treat in the Lincoln Southwest parking lot from 5:00-7:30 p.m. They collected cans for the Lincoln Food Bank. Student Council invited any school club to set up a trunk and dress up in costumes to help hand out candy to little kids. There were 28 trunks set up.

“We wanted to do something fun for the community for Halloween, while also being able to give back to our community,” sophomore Tatum Thorell said. “(The goal) is to have a ton of fun with the kids in our town. But also being able to give to the food bank because admissions is one can per group, so we’re going to give all that food.”

Along with trunks, there were different activities to participate in. There was a ‘guess the amount of candy corn in the jar,’ a cakewalk, tic tac toe, a scavenger hunt and other carnival-like games.

“(The goal) was to provide a fun atmosphere for kids, their families and our high school students,” Student Council sponsor Mrs. Sarah Hammers said. “High school students get to be involved in giving back to the community. It brings so much joy to people and sometimes they don’t realize it until they do it.”
