The Spring Honors Convocation will be held on Thursday, Feb. 10 in the main gym at Lincoln Southwest from 8:15-9:15 a.m.

At the assembly, the cheer team will perform and then Principal John Matzen will speak and honor students who made honor roll and had perfect attendance during the 2021 fall semester.

Parents and guardians are welcome to attend the Honors Convocation as well and must sit in the bleachers.

“It’s cool that we can get pins and letters for good grades and our hard work in getting them,” junior Joanita Mensah said. “I’ve also had perfect attendance last semester so it’s interesting I get recognized for that.”

Students will need to arrive at school earlier to drop off their backpacks in their first block classes. They will then need to enter the gym through the lower D hallway to pick up a card with their name on it. They will need these cards so their name can be read aloud when they are recognized.

“Ever since the pandemic, our Honors Convocations have been a bit different,” counselor Amanda Tomes said. “Guests must sit in the section of the bleacher that lines up with the grade of the student they are there for. Once a grade level is recognized, parents, guardians and the students will be allowed to go.”

If guests are there for multiple students in different grades they should sit in the section corresponding to the lowest grade level of the students they are there for. They can leave once all the students they are supporting have been recognized.

Seniors will not attend this Honors Convocation. Later on in the year, seniors will have their own separate Honors Convocation.
