It has been raining in Lincoln since Thursday, Aug. 30. From the time span of Thursday to Tuesday, some parts of Nebraska gained 7 inches of rain. According to the Omaha World Herald, the rain is an effect of the Tropical Storm, Gordon.

Tuesday night the forecast showed the possibility of another 1-2 inches. The ground was  completely saturated after two inches of rain during the day on Tuesday and six inches on Saturday.

Some people find it tricky and struggle to drive in the rain with the road being slightly slick.

“Driving in the rain has been kind of complicated,” sophomore Miranda Glock said. “It makes the road slippery and I don’t like it.”

According to The Lincoln Journal Star, officials have been encouraging residents in lower lying areas near Salt Lake to think about an evacuation plan if it were to be necessary. Some areas have been bad enough that they have had to close them. Holmes lake was closed due to the flooding.  The rain came to a short pause on Wednesday and continued to stay away through Thursday.

Some people would say that the rain and gray skies have affected their moods lately.

“The rain has made me pretty tired recently,” freshman Ashley Burr said. “The sound of the rain and just the overall mood always makes me tired.”

Rain is predicted to come to a halt on the morning of Sunday, Sept. 9 and sunny weather is expected to return later Sunday afternoon.
