For the 2025-2026 school year, Lincoln Southwest has brought back Homecoming Court. Last year, the school didn’t have the option to nominate students for Homecoming court, but this year the counselors office has released a modified form for students to be nominated.
“I was kind of bummed when they didn’t do homecoming court last year,” sophomore Chloe’ Davidson said. “It was my freshman year and it was something I was looking forward to.”
This year, instead of there being two nominations for each grade for the court, only seniors can be nominated. There will be 10 seniors nominated that will fight for the title of Homecoming King and Queen.
“In my opinion, I like it better that only seniors can be nominated,” senior Emily Dodd said. “I think it gives them a chance to almost feel special and have a moment in the spotlight.”
To nominate a student for the court, go to LPS.org and enter the jump code “MRBU” to fill out the Google Form. Only one submission is allowed per student, and the winners of the court will be announced at the Homecoming Dance.
“I’m really excited for the winners to be announced,” junior Lyra Walsh said. “I think it definitely makes it more interesting and almost suspenseful and keeps people around longer.”
