The Bash

On Thursday, April 7, the Southwest Improv team, the Silverware, participated in a workshop and performance hosted by Westside High School that took place at the Big Canvas Theater in Omaha.

“I thought it was a very good time,” junior Ryan Richert said. “It was fun to interact with a different team and bounce off people we don’t usually get to interact with.”

The event started with the workshop that gave students involved in improv an opportunity to work with new people and learn more about improv. After the initial workshop, the theater was open to the general public to watch. Students had the opportunity to volunteer to perform for an audience after the workshop.

At the end of the night, six awards were handed out to participants who took part in the event. Southwest students took home three of them. Junior Richert won the Best Character Award, junior Ethan Olson won the Best Hair Award, and senior John Roth won the Jack of all Trades Award.

“I have mixed emotions. Obviously I’m glad that I won best physical attribute and that my hair’s still got it,” Olson said. “I don’t know what that says about my Improv abilities.”

The LSW Improv club meets every Tuesday after school in the black box.
