Crochet Club meets on Mondays after school in room C113 at 3:15. This is the first full year of Crochet Club.
“We started it fourth term last year,” Ms. Calia Gans said. “You have to do absolutely nothing to join, just show up and we have everything you might need.”
Anyone that is interested in joining Crochet Club can join. They don’t have to have any prior knowledge of crocheting.
“I joined because I got crochet stuff for my birthday,” freshman Reese Stefkovich said. “Before I went to Crochet Club, I was only making knots, but I joined so that I could learn how to do it.”
Individuals can bring their own supplies if they want. They can also work on projects that they already have started when they go.
“Normally once 4:00 hits we’re kind of dwindling down and sending you home, but we’ll hang out if you want to,” Gans said. “We can teach you if you don’t know how and we’re happy to just hang out and crochet.”
Crochet uses a crochet hook to create fabric by interlacing loops of yarn, thread or other materials. Crochet hooks can be made by different materials to name a few metal, wood and plastic. The size and material of the hook they use depends on the project they are making.
“I think it’s very chill and a good way to express my creativity,” Stefkovich said. “When I joined they were so supportive.”
