Juniors will take the ACT on Tuesday, April 9, at 8:15 a.m. at LSW. Testings end at approximately 12 p.m. for regular-time rooms, 12:25 p.m. for “Stop-the-clock break” accommodation rooms and 1:15 p.m. for “Extended-time, time and ½” accommodation rooms. Instructional Coordinator Travis Brady will email students their testing rooms within Monday, April 1 – Friday, April 5.
Students will need their school ID, extra pencils and an approved calculator on testing day. Calculators should be verified with the ACT Calculator Policy. Students without a calculator can borrow a 4-function calculator from their assigned testing room.
It’s recommended that students create a MyACT account and complete the NSCAS ACT Parental Consent Form prior to taking the ACT. Information to create a MyACT account is listed ‘MyACT Account Creation and ACT Overview Information for…’ sent in Dr. Brady’s email.
To prepare for the ACT, students can utilize the English, Math, Science, Reading and Writing practice tests at the bottom of the MyACT website.
“I started studying for the ACT on the MyACT website after my English teacher introduced it to me,” junior Averie Carmine said. “I get nervous for tests so it helps me feel better when I study.”
The scoring system for the ACT is available on ‘Preparing for the ACT Test’.
“My English class is preparing for the ACT by learning new vocabulary and creating multiple essays,” junior Sundus Breidah said. “The rubric for the essays helps me better understand what the ACT might be looking for.”
Students are prohibited from cheating, revisiting the previous section of the test, answering questions after the time is called, engaging in disruptive behavior and bringing electronic devices such as smart watches on testing day.
