Normally, Japanese Club hosts one Hawks Night the last Friday of every other month. Hawks Night was scheduled for today, Friday, Feb. 28, at 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., but it is rescheduled this month due to a shortage of prizes.

“Prizes are donated by students that are part of Japanese club or part of Japanese class most of the time,” senior Evan Pitt said. “And some teachers donate, I know Cunningham-Sensei, and Willie Sapp donate some too.”

The event is normally hosted in the commons. Hawks cards are $5 for one, $8 for two and $10 for three. There are also concessions being sold during the event, so people can have a snack while they play. Prizes are needed to host the event, to give people something in exchange.

“All the money goes to the Japan trip and Japanese Club, and we use it to host Japanese-style events for everyone,” sophomore Hannah Nigh said. “The prizes are a good incentive to get people to come and buy things.”

The Japan trip is scheduled for the summer of 2021. Hawks Night is rescheduled for the last Friday of April 24, when the event will have enough prizes to be hosted.
