“It’s going to be a visually stunning show,” sophomore Avery Olson who plays Katherine Plumber said. “So many different aspects have been thrown into the show and the cast and crew have worked so hard to put on such a fun show.”
“Newsies” tells the tale of Jack Kelly, a rebellious newsboy who dreams of a life outside of New York City as an artist. After publishing giant Joseph Pulitzer raises the prices of the ‘papes’ at the newsboys’ expense, the ‘newsies’ must band together to fight for what’s right. Aided by Katherine, an aspiring news writer busting of the social pages, the newsies must stop the presses and band together to fight for what’s right. “Newsies” conveys the timeless story of David and Goliath, and that even the smallest voices have a great impact.
“It’s a great historical fiction show with a great message,” junior Grace Schirmer said. “It’s always good when the underdogs win, and it’s very relatable with a fun story.”
