On Friday, May 9, the Lincoln Southwest Student Council (StuCo) will host the third annual Silver Hawk Feud, a replication of the game show, Family Feud, in the auditorium at 7 p.m. The event is a fundraiser for the Make-a-Wish Foundation, and there is an entry fee of $5 for anyone interested in watching.
“Contestants are asked to try to best predict words that fall into categories that 100 other Americans submitted,” junior Claire Timperley said. “For example, you might have animals that start with letter H, and the most common response on the survey was hippo. They will get the amount of points that corresponds with how many people submitted on the survey.”
There will be a total of six staff members and 41 students competing on eight separate teams. The event will start with a preliminary round, followed by two semifinal rounds, after which winners will compete in finals. The winning team will receive small trophies and $5 gift card to 7 Brew Coffee.
The teams competing are Teacher Team, “Random Team”, StuCo Team, Athletic Team, E-Wing Team, Cheer Team, Dungeons and Dragons Team, and Theatre Team.
“It is a way to hopefully get people interested and a good way to try and get money to a good cause,” sophomore Mikah Ristow said. “Family Feud overall is a fairly fun concept and I know most of the people on my team, so it feels pretty great.”
The event will be longer than the previous years, lasting for about an hour and a half to 45 minutes as there are eight teams, compared to four in the previous two years.
“I’m pretty excited. Since I am on the ‘Random Team’, I am going to be directly going against my dad,” freshman Julian Matzen said. “I just think it’s nice to have a bunch of fun things that students can go and participate in.”
