The varsity tennis team opened up their 2023 season with three tournaments on three consecutive days. Participating in a 5-team invitational at Woods Tennis Center Aug. 30, a 4-team quad at Woods Tennis Center Aug. 31 and a 4-team quad at Millard West High School Sept. 1.
The heavy competition schedule hasn’t affected the team’s health and morale, as they prepare to compete against more opposition later this month.
“We’re doing pretty well and we are taking the necessary steps to recover (physically),” senior Jack Felt said. “We have done really well at all the tournaments, and everyone is really happy.”
Even with the demanding schedule, the team puts unity over everything else, relying on each other and supporting their teammates.
“When we work together, we can encourage each other and motivate the whole team to work harder. We strive to be a better team,” sophomore Cooper Richter said. “The team’s support is very encouraging, and it is always a present factor.”
The teamwork and winning mindset shows itself in the success of the team. The Silver Hawks so far have won 50 of their first 60 matches. They play against eight other teams on Sept. 8 in another invitational at Woods Tennis Center at 9:00 a.m.
