Start of Spring Sports

This month, girls tennis, baseball and girls and boys soccer seasons have begun.

 

Boys varsity soccer started their season on March 21 against North Star and they won. The junior varsity soccer team had their first game on Tuesday, March 21 against North Star, which they also won. 

 

“Our soccer season started March 17 and our first away game is Friday, March 31 against Elkhorn South, “ reserve soccer player sophomore Anthony Aden said. ¨Our first game was against Lincoln High School which we won 2-1. I’m also most excited about our away game against Elkhorn South.”

 

Girls varsity and JV soccer started their season March 17 with a win against Columbus High School. Reserve started their season March 20 against Lincoln Southeast with another win. 

 

Girls tennis also started their spring sports season here at Lincoln Southwest High School.

 

“Our first game was March 22 against Saint Paul and York and I was playing number one doubles,” varsity player sophomore Vittoria Quaranta said. “We won against Saint Paul but lost against York. It was a really fun game though.”

 

Varsity baseball started their season March 22 against Millard South. JV baseball started the 25 and they lost to Grand Island. Freshman baseball started the 25 also against Lincoln East High School and also Lincoln Northeast High School. Reserve had their first game Monday against Columbus.

 

“We have four levels of baseball and our first game was against Columbus,” baseball coach Mr. Mitch Vernon said. “I always get excited at the beginning of the season and it’s always fun going and competing against other teams.” 

 

Varsity baseball will have their next game on March 30 against the Norfolk Panthers. Varsity girls soccer will have their next game March 30 against Lincoln East High School. Varsity boys soccer will next play Lincoln East on March 30. Varsity tennis will have their next tournament March 31 against Burke, Millard West and Bellevue East.
