On Saturday, Aug. 26, cross country has their first time trial at Pioneers Park. They are racing to see who gets put onto varsity and junior varsity. The first seven boys and girls to finish will run varsity. The time trials are held once each year at the beginning of the season.
To prepare for the time trials the team had summer runs together as a group. During the season they have training five to six times a week. They start with a warm-up or an ab workout, before they begin their run.
“Twice a week we do a workout on the bike trial,” senior Olivia Wray said. “The other days we just go on a regular runs and its good to talk with all of your friends and hang out.”
While some are nervous for the season others feel prepared for the season in front of them.
“The summer running was very helpful for us as a team,” freshman Logan Yeackley said. “The people that really tried their hardest during the summer running, it will pay off for them during the season.”
They will have their first meet on Thursday, Sep. 14.
