The Midwest Commits will start their season at Sherman Field on Sunday, August 27, with an intersquad scrimmage.

The fall baseball travel team is composed of sophomores, juniors and seniors. Tryouts were in early June for the fall baseball travel team and practice kicked off on Tuesday, Aug. 16, and Thursday, Aug. 18. The Midwest Commits play in Perfect Game tournaments, events that are hosted in hopes of recruiting the players for the next levels of their careers. The Midwest Commits also play community colleges.

The coaching staff is made up of coach Logan Foster and coach Eli Lovell, both are LSW alumnus. The team is also coached by  coach Mason Ornelas, and coach Evan Helman.

“I love them, Foster’s an old Lincoln Southwest alumni,” junior catcher Caden Ransom said. “It’s good to see him coach us and try to get us to the next level.”

The team is hoping for a good fall season and for players to fill roles for the team.

“We have a few star players,  so I think we’re going to be pretty good on the defensive side of the ball,” junior pitcher Alex Wenta said. “I’m not really sure on the offensive side of the ball yet, but I’m sure we will make it work.”
