Varsity football kicked off last night at Seacrest Field as the Hawks took on the Papillion-La Vista Monarchs.
After the Hawks were down 14-7 early in the first quarter, varsity unleashed a 28-point scoring run to get ahead 35-14 at the end of the second quarter.
“The white-out really got us going,” said Sherman. “The stands rallied the troops.”
Senior quarterback, Jakob Ahlschwede, had 261 collective yards in 69-34 victory.
“The communication and leadership from the older guys really helped push everyone through,” said Ahlschwede. “We were all excited and ready to play after the summer workouts.”
Southwest takes on rival Lincoln Southeast next Friday at Seacrest Field at 4:30 p.m.
