The varsity volleyball team will take on the Omaha Westside Warriors at Lincoln Southwest on Thursday, Sept. 7, at 6:30 p.m. After winning four straight games, the Hawks will have an opportunity to capture their fifth consecutive win.
“I’m really excited because I think we’ll do really good,” senior Abbie Appleget said. “We do a lot of conditioning so I feel like we have really good endurance. If we end up going five sets, we can push through.”
The Warriors have knocked the Hawks out of the playoffs two years in a row at State. The Hawks lost 3-2 in 2022 and 3-0 in 2023.
“Everyone wants to absolutely stomp them. I think that’s the mindset. Westside is going down whether they like it or not,” senior Emerson Lionberger said. “The goal obviously is to sweep them because we got swept at state.”
The Hawks will have a chance at redemption with a home court advantage. Tickets will be available online at $5 for students and $7 for adults. If students are purchasing tickets at the game, their student IDs are required.
