The girls varsity basketball team captured their second win of the season against the Lincoln Northeast Rockets on Saturday, Dec. 4, at Lincoln Southwest. The Hawks defeated the North Platte Bulldogs 53-29 on Thursday for their season opener, Nov. 30 and the Rockets 57-49 to advance to a 2-0 record to start the season.
“I feel really good. I feel like we are a pretty strong team this season,” sophomore forward Eleanor Griffin said. “The mindset in closing out the game was really just thinking about how I can help contribute to the team and how we can pull away with the win.”
Griffin knocked down two three pointers in the final quarter against the Rockets. Senior guard Kennadi Williams led the team with 18 points.
“It’s fun to be at home because there are people you know and it’s a lot more exciting,” sophomore guard Brenly Noerrlinger said. “Our effort was really good and we were able to push the ball. We just really played as a team.”
The Hawks will be back in action on Friday, Dec. 8 at 6 p.m. at LSW against the Grand Island Islanders.
