On Monday, Sept. 23, the JV volleyball team took on the North Star Gators and the Southeast Knights in a triangular volleyball match. Southwest won against North Star 2-1 and Southeast 2-0.
“At the games on Monday, even with being down at the beginning of a set, it always feels really good to be able to come back and win,” freshman Taryn Weigel said. “After we won both games, I’m sure we all felt good about how we played.”
The team is midway through the season so there is room for the team to improve within their last five games. The JV volleyball team plays 15 regular season games in total before the LPS Championship.
“After each game, I think we can all say there are things to improve on,” Weigel said. “Whether that’s with cutting down serving errors or focusing on ball control.”
Every win prepares the team for the LPS Championship at the end of their season. They have a current record of 9-1.
“Winning and losing affects our record and seedings going forward,”head coach Hannah Sexton said. “I always tell the girls we can’t take a game off and every win is important.”
On Tuesday, Oct. 1, the JV volleyball team will have their next game at home again taking on North Star.
