On Tuesday, Sep. 5 at 5 p.m, the JV football team took on Lincoln North Star. It was their first game of the season and they lost 33-15.
It was the first official football game on Lincoln Southwest’s new turf since it got installed in the fall of 2023.
“It is always nice to not have to travel anywhere,” assistant football coach Christian Summers said. “You know you are comfortable because you know the surroundings and you don’t have to get onto a bus.”
The players felt disheartened about the loss but hope to bounce back in the next game.
“The team felt a little disappointed that we didn’t win,” junior defensive back Ian Mulvaney said. “I thought that we played good, so I am hopeful for the next couple of weeks.”
Their next game will be Monday, Sep. 11 at 5 p.m against Grand Island at Grand Island Memorial Field.
