The boys varsity wrestling team traveled to Grand Island Senior High School on Saturday, Feb. 10, and competed in districts. The tournament resulted in nine wrestlers from Southwest qualifying for the State Tournament.
“It felt really good since I wasn’t expecting to place because I wasn’t seeded very high,” freshman Zac Snow said. “Everyday we are here after school working hard.”
Freshman Will Manning was district champion at 165 pounds, senior Titus Miron was district runner-up at 175 pounds, senior Wyatt Davis (157 pounds) and freshman Zac Snow (106 pounds) placed third and senior Jacob Snow (132 pounds), sophomore Zach Masek (113 pounds), junior Hudson Miron (190 pounds), sophomore Cole Nelson (215 pounds) and senior Josh Tollefsen (285 pounds) placed fourth.
“Something I’m looking forward to for State is going out there and competing and hopefully medaling,” freshman Will Manning said. “We will have a good practice these next couple of days and then we will go up Thursday morning and have fun.”
The State Wrestling Tournament will be from Thursday, Feb. 15, to Saturday Feb. 17, at CHI Health Center Arena in Omaha.
