Unified P.E. allows individuals of all abilities to play fun games. We both really enjoy getting to spend time with our friends while also getting in some exercise. We have met some of our closest friends being a part of Unified P.E. It has allowed us to grow together and continue to expand our school’s inclusive and welcoming environment. Unified P.E. is all about making others feel welcome and like they have a place at Lincoln Southwest High School. Unified P.E. is fun! 

Unified P.E. is one of the best classes our school’s Unified program offers. This class allows students with and without disabilities to come together and take part in various activities/games. 

This class takes place in the main or practice gym, and occasionally outside. Our Unified P.E. class is partnered with Special Olympics where we participate in their field day activities. Some examples of these activities include paper airplane throws, kangaroo catch, and bean bag toss. You can make sure to get in all of your physical activity with this class as well as getting all of your physical education credits.

When we aren’t doing field day events, we play various games, such as, platform volleyball, Benji ball, and fat bat. Fat bat is essentially where you  are placed on one of two teams. Your team is either in the field or up to bat. When you are batting, you will either use the tee or someone will pitch the ball to you. Once you hit the ball, you and your partner will run the bases. There are four bases that you have to run before a home run. You will just have to join unified P.E. to find out the rest. Unified P.E. is an absolute blast and we really enjoy our time when we are having fun. We do skills work before we play certain games to get warmed up and have a little practice. 

Sometimes we even have surprises. One time, Coach Brenden, surprised us with a dance party where we danced to many Just Dance videos. It was such a great time. The best days are when we get to meditate before we start playing our game of the day. 

We love getting to socialize with all of our classmates and it is a great way to make friends. Our coaches and teachers are super amazing and help us have a great time in the class.
