Most people know me as my Instagram handle, @Lincoln_ne_photographer. I’ve been in the car community here in Nebraska for about 18 months and take photos for @total__control part time. I’ve loved every minute of it. We need to showcase the car community so people can see that it is a good environment. I have great encounters with all of the car community in Nebraska. Some people are nervous about going to car meets anymore, thinking they have to know the host in order to go.
You might be wondering what a car show is. A car show is a bunch of people coming together to look at a bunch of cars. There is usually one person or a Car Club hosting the show. Depending on how big the car show is, there will be food and ice cream for families that bring children and others. The shows are usually during the evening since that works for the rest of the community. The whole point of car meets are bringing people together to look at nice cars, new or old, and just talking about them. You don’t have to be a ‘car person’ to come to one of these meets. You don’t have to know anything about cars. More than likely, people will want to help you understand more about the cars. Most people that attend the car meets and bring cars let kids sit in them too, I personally know a couple of exotic car owners that will let kids sit in there McLarens, Lamborghini’s and other nice cars.
People that really don’t know anything about these car meets are scared of car meets because there have been times when attendees had bad intentions. That is why a lot of other people I know try to make the car meets as safe as possible. The only reason we can’t positively say its 100 percent safe, is people are people, and you can’t control what someone does but, we try to keep everyone that has a bad attitude or are giving bad vibes out of the car meets.
Usually, the bigger names here in Nebraska don’t go to the car meets that are smaller and not well known. For example, a host well known in the car community, Mo Shakir, owner of SFC (Sunday Funday Cruise), promotes safety because of an accident on O street on May 30, 2022. Even on I-80, which the speed limit is 65-75 mph, Shakir tells everyone to only go 50 mph for safety. Shakir has said in driver meetings that SFC wants to show the new generation that they can drive nice cars and be safe about it. In the driver’s meeting before the cruise, he tells the drivers to keep it at 50 or below or else they will get kicked or banned from the rest of the car meets Shakir hosts.
Another well known car club in Nebraska is Nebraska Headturners. Their president is Alexandria. They usually have a strict policy on entry, because if they don’t know drivers on a personal level, they most likely won’t have anyone in the community in their club. Drivers must show them that they won’t race, speed or doing anything reckless that will damage the club’s reputation.
Another well known Car Club is Hustle Hard. Their CEO is Dylan Anson, and they have a strict entry policy just like all the other car clubs. They scout drivers out for a two month period to make sure people will be a good fit inside the club. Once they get in the club, if anyone breaks any rules they will be kicked out of the Car Club.
I will be having a car meet on Saturday June 1st, 2024 at 5:30 p.m. at Woods Park off of O Street for people who would like to see what the car community is like. I don’t want a tragic event at any car meets I go to. None of us want that in the car community. Most of the car community gets mad when they see someone ruining a spot for a car meet. If you go to a car meet, take a look around at the cars that people have paid good money for. It will give them happiness to see others liking what they enjoy. They just want to see other cars and meet new people.
