The “Clue” faculty show is coming up on Monday, May 13 and Tuesday, May 14, at Lincoln Southwest. It will be performed at 7:00 p.m. both nights.
The play is based on the murder mystery game “Clue.” In the game, there are three to six players. They move from room to room in a mansion trying to solve the mystery of who killed who, with what object and in what room.
The game and the play are very similar. All the names and weapons from the game stay the same in the play. We are promised a surprising twist at the end.
“I have really enjoyed getting to know the staff in a way that I haven’t before. And I like the community that this is building for us,” Mrs. Sarah Morrow, who plays a motorist and the singing telegram girl said. “The show is turning out pretty funny. I think as long as we are having fun, I think the audience will have fun too.”
The cast are faculty members Morrow, Mrs. Brandi Benson, Mr. Aaron Finley, Mr. Michael Geist, Mrs. Elizabeth Griffith, Mrs. Toni Heimes, Dr. Angela Kramer, Mrs. Marla Payant and Mr. David Tien. LSW Theatre Director Mr. Austyn McKee and Theater Technician Mr. Scott Engel prepared the play. There are students that help build the background for the play and prepare props together. The crew is Alumni.
“The play is very well organized. Austyn and Scott are amazing to work with. And it’s super fun to get to know them, because it is my first staff production,” Griffith said. “It is really cool to get to see this side of the production, the behind the scenes, all the work that goes into it, and everyone just takes it so seriously, but everybody is also having so much fun with it.”
Once a year, LSW has a staff production. This year’s staff production is going to be the first under McKee’s direction.
“Austyn is doing a great job, he is very patient and encouraging and creative,” Kramer said. “He is a little different than the old theater director and how he approaches. I know we’re gonna get this same high quality product at the end of the day.”
A lot of the teachers that participate in the staff production used to be part in theater productions when they attended high school or college.
“When I was in high school, I did musicals and so forth. I didn’t do plays, but I did musicals. And in college I did one musical when I was a freshman. I was in Fiddler on the Roof,” Mr. Finley said. “I enjoy theater. I think it’s fun to see students in a different light.”
