The LSW forensic team is volunteering at the Vintage Market, hosted at Lancaster County Event Center. The team will receive $2,000 for helping out. Students and parents involved in LSW Forensics get the opportunity to volunteer on Wednesday, Sept. 6 from 1-2 p.m, Friday, Sept. 8 and Saturday, Sept. 9 from 9:30a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 10 from 9:30 a.m. – 6p.m.
“They (the people at the event center) are always looking for a nonprofit group to be porters and the haulers,” speech coach Mr. Matt Heimes said. “Mrs. (Toni) Heimes is a vendor there, so she made the connection for our group (LSW Forensics) to volunteer.”
The volunteers will work the holding area on the days of the event. As porters and haulers, they will help watch items while people shop and will also help customers move their purchases to their vehicles.
“I want to do anything to help support it (LSW Forensics),” speech team member sophomore Claire Timperley said. “It costs a lot to go to competitions, and I really appreciate that we don’t have to pay for each one. In any way I can raise money for our forensics team, I’m going to help out.”
Volunteers can sign up for two to three hour shifts. If someone is interested in helping volunteer, they can contact Mr. or Mrs. Heimes for further details.
