Tuesday, Feb. 20 to Friday, Feb. 23, the Lincoln Southwest Teens Influencing Equity Club (TIE) will be holding an Inclusivity Week to educate the LSW student body about different social issues. TIE Club topics will include religion, LGBTQ+, women’s rights and racial discrimination.
“This will be good for the school and community because it will make people more aware of problems that other people face,” senior Mya Gottsleben said. “It’s a great way to make others open-minded.”
TIE Club members will be handing out slips of paper inside of the school by the front doors with information about religion, LGBTQ+, women’s rights and racial discrimination with local and national awareness.
“This is important because it can help people change their mindsets and be more inclusive and kinder to people,” junior Elise Mielak said. “We try to spread information and give people facts to help people be more inclusive which would be very beneficial to everyone at school.”
There will be multiple posters around the school with more information about Inclusivity Week and there will be a presentation that will be given during Tuesday Twelve.
