When looking through a kaleidoscope, you see all the different shapes, sizes and colors that creates a beautiful image. That is the goal of Lincoln Southwest’s Kaleidoscope Club. A community where students can relax and talk about life, the club is a place for everyone.
“The goal of Kaleidoscope is to provide an opportunity for students,” club sponsor Mrs. Ashli True said. “We hope to develop a positive, encouraging and helpful community on our campus.”
Beginning at Lincoln North Star in 2013, Kaleidoscope Club expanded into Southwest in 2016, making it a club at Southwest for eight years. Currently, Kaleidoscope Club is at Lincoln North Star, Lincoln Southwest, Lincoln East, Park Middle School, Pound Middle School, Lux Middle School and Irving Middle School.
“The club was created to provide a positive community for students to develop healthy friendships, grow in life skills and discover a place where they can be honest about their challenges,” True said. “Our overarching thought is that we want to help students get better a life so life gets better for them.”
The club meets every Tuesday from 3:03-4:00 p.m. in the A100 forum. Snacks and a welcoming atmosphere are offered and new members are always encouraged to join.
“It’s all just a very welcoming and caring environment,” junior Ven Greenwood said. “Everyone is so polite and we also have snacks, which is awesome.”
