The Lincoln Southwest swim and diving team placed second in the HAC (Heartland Athletic Conference) Championship, with a total of 341 points, finishing only behind Lincoln East, with 528 points.
Going into the State Championship Meet, the team looks to make the most out of the opportunity to best their competition.
“Lincoln East is definitely our biggest competition,” junior Aiden Oltman said. “The crowds on both sides are very competitive.”
Going into the final meet of the year, and facing swimmers from almost every Class A school in Nebraska, the team looks to rely on their experience as a group to carry them to success.
“At the beginning of the season, we were definitely strong,” junior Kasch Faustman said. “But after going through everything the team has gone through, winning and losing numerous times, there have been days for all of our swimmers that haven’t gone the best. But after all that, we’re all in a super strong mental state.”
The Swim and Dive State Championships will take place at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Competition will begin Feb. 22, at 9:30 a.m., Feb. 23 at 9:00 a.m. and Feb. 24 at 11:00 a.m. Admission is $8 for adults at $6 for students.
