From Monday, Feb. 26, to Friday, March 1, Student Council (StuCo) will host Cancer Awareness Week to bring attention and educate the LSW students about different types of cancer. Cancer Awareness Week will include outfit color themed days and daily donation opportunities.
“The motivation behind choosing to focus on different types of cancer for this week was that one of my close friends’ aunts died from cancer recently,” sophomore Mackenzie Steinbrook said. “The struggle of that loss to cancer was really near and dear to me and we wanted to bring more awareness to our school.”
Students and staff will have the opportunity to donate before and after school all week at the donation table located at the front of the school. All donations will go to the American Cancer Society.
“You don’t have to donate to show your support, students can show their support by dressing the theme days,” Steinbrook said. “I’m really excited to see everyone dress up and hope there’s a lot of school spirit.”
Theme days:
Monday: White (Lung Cancer)
Tuesday: Green (Liver Cancer)
Wednesday: Pink (Breast Cancer)
Thursday: Grey (Glioblastoma)
Friday: Purple (All cancers)
