From Monday, Oct. 2 to Friday, Oct. 6, Southwest will have a themed Spirit Week to prepare for Homecoming. Monday, Oct. 2 is Pajama Party, Tuesday, Oct. 3 is Hawks Spirit, Wednesday, Oct. 4 is Pink Out, Thursday, Oct. 5 is Hawaiian and Friday, Oct. 6 is Party in the USA.
Cheer decided the theme, “Friday Night Frights,” for Homecoming and Lincoln Southwest Emeralds Dance Team decided the themes for Spirit Week.
“My favorite theme for Spirit Week is Pink Out because pink looks really good and I love Breast Cancer Awareness Month,” junior Faith Dierking said. “Spirit Week just boosts morale and I hope it will make everyone excited because Emeralds put in a lot of time into picking the themes and we (cheer) put a lot of time into the dance.”
The purpose of Spirit Week is to show school spirit and create excitement for the Homecoming dance.
“I hope that people have fun and get to show school spirit,” junior Olivia McCurley said. “We (Emeralds) picked the themes by class. Each grade got to pick what they wanted.”
The Homecoming dance is on Friday, Oct. 6 from 8 p.m. – 11 p.m.
