The speech team will be going to Lincoln North Star on Saturday, Feb. 3, to compete against multiple schools in Nebraska. Coming off two competitions against Lincoln Northeast on Friday, Jan. 26, and Millard West on Saturday, Jan. 27, Southwest will look to bring home more awards.
“My goals are to final in Informative and get really good feedback from the judges,” junior Jordyn Davis said. “Something I like about North Star is they do the pick-up line competition which I think is really funny and creative.”
Following the competition at Lincoln North Star, there will be two more speech meets before the Districts and National Qualifiers competition. One of them will be at Millard North on Saturday, Feb. 10, and the regular season will close at Lincoln East on Friday, Feb. 16.
“Being a novice this year, I’m really happy I finaled twice this season because it showed me that I could actually get there if I keep working,” sophomore Preston Gonzales said. “I’m excited seeing how all the effort throughout our season is finally coming in and we’re being the best we can be.”
