Lincoln Southwest High School Forensics will host a garage sale in the commons on Saturday, April 27, at 9 a.m.-3 p.m. All profits will go towards LSW Speech and Debate teams for Nationals and to pay off any fees from their season.
Any leftover garage sale items will be donated to Goodwill, the Lincoln Bike Kitchen and other charitable organizations.
“Our garage sale will allow people to reuse items that other people were going to throw away, which in the end, helps out our environment,” debate coach Mrs. Toni Heimes said. “It’ll also teach our students a lesson that hard work equals profit.”
People are welcomed to donate any items to the garage sale after school Friday, April 26, from 3:30 p.m.-8 p.m. Students will be waiting with carts by door 10 located behind the school to help unload any donations from cars. LSW cannot take any TVs, chemicals, car seats or old computers.
“In my first year in Southwest’s Forensics, I didn’t know a lot of other people in it, but things like the garage sale allowed me and many others to better know the community,” junior Elizabeth Falcone said. “I really like this event because it shows just how much everyone cares about the speech and debate team. Like the many years before, the team tries really hard to make this event nice.”
Some of the most popular items that sell at the LSW Speech and Debate Garage Sale are toys, games, puzzles, sports equipment, bikes, holiday items, craft items, furniture, art, bedding, blankets, curtains, sheets, linens, shoes, books, kitchen equipment and clothes.
