Students who want to make any schedule changes needed to go to the Counseling Center and make an appointment with their counselor by Friday, Jan. 10, 2020.

The counseling Office is open every day from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and counselors are ready to help any student who needs assistance.

“There are multiple reasons to make schedule changes,” counselor Anders Peterson said. “For example, students who haven’t met their prerequisites or have previously completed the class for academic requirements.”

Other reasons students need to adjust their schedules are if students need to replace “See Counselor” or seniors need a required class for graduation and/or college entrance requirements.

Students can also drop the class during five weeks after the beginning of the term if they have any medical issues or if they are receiving a failing grade.

“In the first week of the term, I always expect a lot of adds and drops,” Mr. Willie Sapp said. “I also don’t mind students dropping my class in the middle of the term, but I make sure first that I did everything to prevent it from happening.”

If freshmen or sophomores want to have an off-block, they need to wait until their junior year, since they are required to have a full schedule each term, and juniors can get only one off-block per semester.

“For seniors, I think it is smart to have an off-block in first semester,” Peterson said. “It’s a great time to get your college and scholarship applications done.”

While making any schedule changes, all students need to make sure that they are meeting their graduation and/or college requirements in order to have a successful and fun term. For more information students can check LPS graduation requirements.
