At 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19, Student Council (StuCo) will be hosting a Color Run. The entry fee is $5 and all the profits that StuCo makes will go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
In the 2022-2023 school year, StuCo held their first Color Run on April 12. Around 50 people showed up to run to raise money.
“My favorite part was getting hit with the chalk,” junior Jack Sonenberg said. “The Color Run helps fund a kid’s wish so it’s a small part in a big project.”
Those involved in the Color Run will start the run at the entrance of the school and take two laps before ending the run. As they go around the school, StuCo members will throw different colored chalk at them. For the colors to show up best, StuCo members recommend wearing all white. StuCo will also be selling popsicles for $1 and water for $2.
“Last year, I loved seeing all the people having fun and walking around,” junior Tatum Thorell said. “I really hope to have a bigger attendance. I reached out to all the elementary and middle schools that feed into Southwest so that it was put out into the community.”
Student Council plans the Color Run to be hosted as an annual event.
