Wednesday, March 27, was the reserve girls first tennis match of the season. The matches started at 4 p.m. at Lincoln Southwest. They went against Lincoln High.
“I was excited for the experience because it was my first tennis match. I was just so excited for what’s gonna to happen,” freshman Adedayo Beyioku said. “I was nervous about losing because I know we’re such a good team.”
The team consists of freshmen Adedayo Beyioku, Madyson Cheatham, MaKenzie Kottmeyer, Rowan Gardels, Angela Miller and Sophia Keebler, and sophomore’s Bailey Sukup and Maddy Thiltgen.
“Our reserve team this year is fairly new to tennis. I think it was neat to see for our first matches that we learned a lot,” coach Mr. Dennis Hershberger said. “I think for a lot of our players this was their first real match of playing.”
Were all in singles Sukup, Thiltgen, Cheatham, Miller, Kottmeyer, and Gardels. The people who did doubles together were Sukup with Kottmeyer, Keebler with Beyioku and Thiltgen with Gardels.
“I am so excited that we won because we are a really good team,” Beyioku said. “My favorite part of the team was that we supported each other and we pushed each other in different ways.”
The girls on the Reserve tennis team won 9-0.
“I’m glad we won, but we always want players to have a good experience regardless of a win or loss,” Hershberger said. “We get some players on the tennis courts to get some practice.”
The tennis team’s next game will be on Thursday, March 28, both matches will start at 4 p.m. at Lincoln Southwest.
