According to U.S. News, Lincoln Southwest is ranked as the best high school in NE Metro Area Rankings. The teachers at LSW are proud to be Silver Hawks. They consider LSW as a school with a great community.
“I love the teachers that I work with and I feel like the principal is really supportive of teachers,” Mr. Ryan Salem said. “The students are amazing.”
Also a lot of teachers’ own children attend Southwest, because they like this school. More than half of the directory have or had kids attending LSW.
“My kids go here,” Mrs. Leslie Mann said. “I just love it here. I love my department and I love all the people I work with.”
Some teachers have taught at different schools before they came to LSW. A lot of them remain at LSW.
“I’ve taught at two different middle schools, so this is actually the third school that I’ve been at,” Mrs. Elizabeth Griffith said. “It truly feels like the best fit for me. My coworkers are amazing humans.”
One of the things some teachers value a lot is to make students feel welcomed in their classroom. They also let their students know that they are able to trust their teachers.
“I like building relationships with students and I like teaching kids about things that I’m passionate about,” Mrs. Sarah Morrow said. “The Southwest community wants you to succeed and they’re very supportive.”
A lot of teachers end up getting grad invites from their previous students. Senior Aubrianna Baxa sends grad invites to her teachers, because she wants her teachers to see that their work, teaching her, paid off since she is graduating this summer 2024.
“A lot of teachers really made an impact on my high school experience,” Baxa said. “I want the teachers that were supportive to be part of my graduation.”
