At 6:15 a.m. on Friday, August 18, the seniors of Lincoln Southwest gathered on the school’s football field for the Senior Sunrise. The event was hosted by the Student Council as a way for the senior class to celebrate their last year of school.
“During the summer, everyone (senior class) was basically apart,” Student Council member Kai Sasaki said. “So if we could bring them together before school starts, then that might create a better bond throughout the grade.”
Seniors spent time speaking with friends, taking photos and painting a banner with their handprints.
“I’m in class with a lot of seniors, but not the entire senior class. It was nice to see all of us in one space, sharing an event together,” senior Nicholas Bushard said. “It’s a fun way to reflect on these people that I’ve known my whole life, but also look forward to my last year of classes and being with these people.”
Due to popular demand from the younger classes, Student Council plans to continue the Senior Sunrise as a tradition for the future.
