Each year in early December/late November, Spotify Music releases a “Spotify Wrapped”. This year, at 9:00 a.m. on December 4th, Spotify Music released this year’s Spotify Wrapped. Each year, they have different categories describing the listeners, their favorite song they listened to, and the top genre listened to.
“I’m excited for Spotify Wrapped to come out,” senior Ellie Bailey said. “I just like to see what I’ve listened to the most, sometimes because it surprises me.”
For teacher Brandi Benson, this year’s Spotify Wrapped means absolutely nothing. Though Spotify is used almost on the daily for her, Benson usually does not have the choice of what she gets to play.
“It really doesn’t mean that much to me because I only use Spotify in my classroom,” Benson said. “Students suggest what we listen to every day, so it’s not really an authentic representation of what I listen to. However, it is kind of fun to see what we played the most throughout the school year.”
Without fail, Spotify releases the most played song that each user listened to in the year. Ranging from the music of pop stars to indie musicians, one song is played most for every user.
“I think that my most played song this year is going to be ‘The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived’ by Taylor Swift,” freshman Kayleigh Chaulk said. “Honestly because I left it on repeat while I slept and it played 84 times, but I really do like the song.”
