Wednesday, July 10 to Friday, July 12, Lincoln Southwest will be holding a glee camp. The camp is for incoming fifth to ninth graders. The students that will be helping out with LSW Glee Camp are the varsity show choir students. LSW Glee Camp is a three-day music camp.
“I’m always excited to watch the Southwest students gain leadership skills by working together in a new group,” Mr. Andrew Jacobson said. “Our students are kind group leaders and counselors and they work on leadership skills and a lot of games.”
During the camp, the participants will be learning an entire show choir show. There will be a final performance by all the camp in the high school auditorium.
“Glee camp is a lot of fun. I think it’s a good opportunity for people who are looking to do show choir to come participate and have fun,” senior Jackson Keele said. “It is mostly meant for kids, but it’s also fun for the high schoolers running the camp as well.”
The kids participating in glee camp will learn how to sing and dance. They will teach the kids notes and vocals. Kids will also be able to come up with their own choreography.
“Our students are kind group leaders and counselors.” Jacobson said. “They work together on leadership skills through a lot of games, and keep these incoming fifth and ninth graders entertained and also build a sense of community through music.”
It will cost $100 to participate in the LSW Glee Camp. There will also be performance shirts included.
“We talk to the campers and provide them with a safe and fun environment,” Keele said. “We teach them some dancing and singing and we play games with them. We provide them snacks and it’s just like a fun summer camp.”
The due date for entry is Friday, June 28.
