On Thursday, March 17 and Friday, March 18, the Southwest DECA team competed at State and was the only team in Nebraska to have all eight members medal in their respective categories.

Senior Isabella Skare individually placed first in Human Resource Management, junior Nick Loriaux placed first in Personal Finance and junior Bryson Reynolds placed third in Business Finance. 

“The awards ceremony was pretty exciting since we all did really well,” freshman Brandon Hansen said. “Mrs. Little did a really good job at helping us review and be ready for State. I think I need to prepare more for Nationals but I’m really excited to compete there.”

Nationals will take place on April 23-26 in Atlanta, Georgia. 

“I am over-the-moon proud of them. They did very well,” DECA sponsor Kathy Little said.  “Isabella Skare and Brandon Hansen will both be going to Nationals in April and we will be preparing for that. Next year, I hope to have more students in our group so I can take more students to State.”

Students interested in joining DECA to learn more about business, leadership or marketing can attend meetings every Wednesday from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. in the C209 forum.
