On Monday, Oct. 2, the College Fair will be hosted in Southwest’s practice gym at 1 p.m. Students will be able to learn about tuition, programs and athletics from approximately 60 colleges in Nebraska and nearby states.
“We host this college fair at our school so students don’t have to find something out in the community,” counselor Mrs. Amanda Tomes said. “They (the colleges) are giving students this opportunity to meet with people, talk to them and ask questions without leaving Southwest.”
It will be a chance for students to hear from schools and start making a college decision. Along with UNL and UNO, schools from South Dakota, Wyoming, Missouri and Iowa will all be at the College Fair.
“I think it’s important to learn more about the college you’re interested in,” senior Ellianna Stegeman said. “The more you know about the college, the easier it will be for you to decide which college you want to go to. It will help your education in the future because you’ll know how you learn best.”
In order to be excused from class, students will sign up beforehand to visit the College Fair. These sign-ups, along with more information, will be posted in the grade level Google Classrooms later this week.
