On Thursday, Oct. 4, Hive Helpers, the environmental club at Southwest, will be making lip balm in A105 after school from 3:15-4 p.m. The chapstick will be sold at the LSW Craft Fair, which is hosted by Silver Hawk Theater on Saturday, Oct. 21 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. The event has local vendors from all over Lincoln to sell their crafts. Hive Helpers is working on selling sustainable crafts to earn money for plants in the spring.
“I’ve never made lip balm before and I love lip balm,” freshman Camille Davis said. “It (craft fair) will provide money for us to buy plants for the gardens.”
Along with making lip balm, Hive Helpers has made bracelets to sell. In later meetings, they plan to make wildflower seed bookmarks and beeswax wraps.
“I’m excited to work together as a team,” junior Kendal Cobb said. “I like the connections with everyone. My favorite craft is making bracelets.”
Hive Helpers meetings are every Thursday in A105 after school. Until Oct. 21, Hive Helpers will be working on crafts at each meeting and everyone is welcome.
